Change is in the air. It's our constant companion really, and the start of school is always a blessed reminder of growth, learning and new routines. Fallen out of practice? Reignite your inner student and get back on your mat! Still practicing? Good for you, keep up the good work!
Join me for the same great classes, back to our original days of TUESDAYS & THURSDAYS at 11am.
I'm also excited to announce the addition of a NEW CLASS. Start the week with a strong body, flexible mind and nourished soul. Join me SUNDAYS at 10:30 for all levels yoga ~ come play!
Got Back Pain?
One of my top recommendations for at-home yoga remedy for back pain is this GUIDEBOOK
Warning, it is a big document, so don't print it out! Open it and take a look at the illustrations starting on page 9. Easy to follow and you can build a simple sequence of gentle warm ups, poses and cool down. Do a little everyday and you will be amazed at the results in just a few weeks!

Study Yourself
Svadhyaya, 'one's own reading' or 'self-study', is part of the second limb of yoga and has the potential to deepen our yoga practice way beyond the mat. Through svadhyaya we gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and cultivate an inner strength that is invaluable in times of real adversity. Beyond noticing reactions to discomfort, there's so much else to observe about your own self while practicing asana. It truly is learning to stop and smell the flowers along your way.
How we practice yoga is how we live our lives. I used to be in a hurry to get to the end, "when is this pose over?" Over the years and many practices, I am learning to appreciate being present in the moment, to be open and accept it as it is, without trying to change, judge or escape from it. It's not easy!
Right now I am trying to follow the advice of my teacher Abijhata Iyengar: when the voice tells you to come out of the pose, ignore it the first two times. Don't come out until the voice says come out for the third time. Catching myself like this, even after practicing yoga for almost 20 years, is mind blowing and eye-opening! It is teaching me to keep it new, to see myself from a fresh perspective, to see myself with new eyes.
My practice is teaching me patience, helped me let go of numerous bad habits, supported me through natural child birth, and continues to nourish me through the joys of parenting, perimenopause, and when life just gets "lifey." I'd love to hear what your practice is teaching you. So, study yourself with a kind attention, be kind to each other and share your thoughts with me- we are on this yoga journey together.
“One’s spiritual realization lies in none other than how one walks among and interacts with one’s fellow beings.”
